The City of Phoenix Development Services Department (DSD) is launching a Third Party Building Plan Review program to offer an optional method to expedite the city’s review process.
A pilot program is planned for kick-off by July 1, 2008. The program will offer permit applicants the ability to decrease the city's review time by using approved certified outside reviewers to assure quality plan submittal. Plans submitted under this program will be reviewed by city staff in half the current published turnaround times at the regular plan review rates.
The city invites qualified individuals to apply for certification as a third party reviewer. A reviewer must hold certification in one or more of the following areas - building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical or structural - from one or more of these appropriate certifying agencies; ICC, IAPMO, IAEI, etc.
Types of plans eligible for this program include; commercial and residential building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and structural plans. This optional program is intended to expedite the city’s review of building safety plans by assuring complete quality plans are submitted to the city for review. For more information about this program, please call 602-495-0258.
Note: Third Party Plan Review is an independent private agreement between the permit applicant and an approved reviewer that does not include the City as a party |

Become a Blight Buster! The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) continues its mission to rid our city of graffiti and illegal signs. However, recent budget cuts and staff reductions have made it a challenge to meet our goals. In March, the Graffiti Busters program was restructured to concentrate on keeping major streets free of graffiti and illegal signs. Now, we need your help to continue our mission – become a Blight Buster! The Blight Busters Volunteer Program (BBVP) was created to provide training and oversight of volunteers to continue our fight against blight. The program will be available to manage volunteer groups, provide supervision for individuals completing community service hours and provide quality control checks. For more information and to find out about future training sessions call 602-495-0323 or send an email to

Motorists who leave their cars running while they dash inside a store or run a quick errand are asking for trouble, warn police.
Unattended, idling vehicles are often the targets of car thieves.
The danger increases when a motorist leaves a child in an unattended vehicle because a thief may unknowingly drive off with the child. Also, fumes can build up and enter the vehicle, putting the child's life in jeopardy.
So be safe, don't leave your car running unattended or leave your child alone in a vehicle. |
